There. I've actually done it. After 8 months, I've added another post! :-)
This song by Michael Card has been in my thoughts...it's one from my childhood, actually. It's been an encouragement and a blessing to me over the years, though, it got a bit forgotten until just recently. A sweet reminder of God's constant working in my life. May it bless you, too, wherever you are at in life's journey. You can look it up on Utube and actually hear it....it's done very well.
In the wildernessIn the wildernessHe calls His sons and daughtersTo the wilderness
But He gives grace sufficientTo survive any testAnd that's the painful purposeOf the wilderness
In the wilderness we wanderIn the wilderness we weepIn the wasteland of our wantingWhere the darkness seems so deep
We search for the beginningFor an exodus to holdWe find that those who follow HimMust often walk alone
In the wildernessIn the wildernessHe calls His sons and daughtersTo the wilderness
But He gives grace sufficientTo survive any testAnd that's the painful purposeOf the wilderness
In the wilderness we're wonderingFor a way to understandIn the wilderness there's not a wayFor the ways become a man
And the man's become the exodusThe way to holy groundWandering in the wildernessIs the best way to be found
In the wildernessIn the wildernessHe calls His sons and daughtersIn the wilderness
But He gives grace sufficientTo survive any testAnd that's the painful purposeOf the wilderness
Groaning and growingAmidst the desert daysThe windy winter wildernessCan blow the self away
In the wildernessIn the wildernessHe calls His sons and daughtersTo the wilderness
But He gives grace sufficientTo survive any testAnd that's the painful purposeOf the wilderness
And that's the painful promiseOf the wilderness
I'm thankful for God's spirit who gives words for such feelings, generation after generation.
